  excerpt
Happiness had been absent from my emotions for a long time. On the surface, I wore a smile and never showed the struggles I dealt with on the inside. The fact of the matter was, I’d been hurt. I was damaged goods, and I hadn’t believed I was the kind of girl worthy of love—of being saved. But I was beginning to see that everyone is worth saving. It was strangely appropriate that the man I’d let break me, was the one to put me back together. I didn’t know what tomorrow, or next week, or even the following month might hold for us, and I wasn’t going to let myself overthink it. I was going to live in the moment. Jude lay on his back, staring up at the clear blue sky. “Tatum?” “Yeah,” I replied when he didn’t continue immediately. “Can I hold your hand, or are you going to hit me for that?” I turned my head and laughed at his serious expression. “I think that would be alright, and I really am sorry about that. It was an automatic reaction.” “So…” He started, a slow grin appearing on his face. “Your first response to a guy kissing you, is to slap him? Interesting.” He was never going to let me live this down. I really hadn’t meant to hit him. He knew that, but he also enjoyed my pain. Douche. “Only one guy.” “I’m the only guy to ever kiss you?” He brightened. “No!” I immediately shut him down. “I’ve kissed other guys, but you’re the only one that I…you know…” “Slapped?” He supplied. “Should I be honored that you like to hit me?” He winked. “You make me sound like I’m abusive,” I pouted, feeling ashamed of myself and my behavior. “Nah,” he propped his head up on his hand and stared down at me. “You’re just a tough girl.” “Tough?” I wrinkled my nose. “That doesn’t sound very appealing.” “Oh, trust me,” his brown eyes sparkled, “it is. It’s hot as hell actually. But you want to know a secret, Tate?” I nodded and he lowered his head so his mouth was pressed against my ear. My body shuddered at the close proximity and the heavenly feel of his breath ghosting against my skin. “Even tough girls need saving.” “Is that what you’re going to do Jude?” I quirked my head and squinted from the sun shining in my eyes. “Are you going to save me?” “No,” he shook his head, his dark hair brushing my forehead. “You’re going to save yourself.” He said the words with such surety that I couldn’t help but believe him. When I didn’t say anything he rolled onto his back and finally entwined our hands together. Peace flooded my body and I didn’t understand it. How could the man that had filled me with such torment not long ago, calm my body with a simple touch? It was mindboggling. I rolled my head slightly to the side, studying his profile—the elegant slope of his nose and the slant of his lips. I couldn’t believe I was thinking this, and he’d probably kill me if I said it out loud, but he was beautiful—inside and out. It was a shame that I was just now noticing it. I think a lot of people never saw what a magnificent person he was. He hid his true self behind cocky smiles and flirtatious come-ons. “You’re staring at me.” “I’m not,” I hastily turned my head away. “I felt your eyes,” he continued. “You were totally staring. It’s okay, look all you want. I know I’m quite the feast for your eyes.” With my free hand I smacked his stomach. My God he had abs of steel. I think I hurt my hand more than I did any damage to him. Not that I was really trying to hurt him. Although, I thought he needed a nice blow to his ego. I squealed as he rolled on top of me and I found my arms pinned above me, pushed into the sand. His tongue slowly snaked out between his plump lips to moisten their surface. I thought he was going to kiss me, but he didn’t. I was learning that Jude rarely did what I expected of him. In many ways he was a mystery. His dark eyes grew serious as he stared down at me and I found myself squirming as his hips dug into mine. I felt my body responding to the position—muscles tightening, pulse racing, and an overwhelming ache building inside me. “Are you sure about this?” He breathed softly. There was a vulnerability in his eyes that I’d only ever seen when he was around his grandpa. “About us? Or am I going to wake up in the morning and find that you’re gone?” “You really think I’d run away?” I replied, wiggling my hips, which caused him to hiss sharply between his teeth. “Honestly? It wouldn’t surprise me. You’re afraid of your own feelings,” he lowered his head, brushing his nose against my neck. My eyes closed and a pleased hum resounded in my throat. There was still a voice in my head telling me to push him away, but I was done listening to it. “It’s okay to be scared, Tate,” he nipped my earlobe, the heat of his body wrapping around mine like a blanket. “I’m scared too.” “You are?” I breathed, my voice so soft the wind nearly carried it away. I felt him nod, his hair tickling my neck. “I’ve never felt this way about anyone, but you,” he confessed. “It’s always been you.”

Review:

In Meet Me In The Middle we meet Rachel Parks, She’s a Kindergarten teacher. We also meet Miles Stevenson, he is a lead actor. Rachel and Miles meet by chance you could say, At Gracie’s Place one of the hottest restaurants in Hollywood. When Rachel’s Reservations were canceled on her because she was a few minutes late. Mile’s asked her to humor him for a moment and sit at his table, so Rachel goes along with it. The next thing she knows Miles Stevenson, The famous actor is kissing her.
“Please smile and act like you know me,”
I’m always up for helping someone out, so I lean forward and plant a nice kiss right on his lips. I figure if he wants to see my acting skills, then he’s in for a real treat. I’m a kindergarten teacher for god’s sack.”
The two have a nice dinner together, and Miles doesn’t want Rachel to get harmed by all the paparazzi waiting for him to leave so he, offers to escort her home.  The gentleman thing to do right? Well You will have to find out that part for yourself, I can not  share, sorry… Over the course of a few days we see these two spend a lot of time with each other. We also see a Ex show her ugly head, but I questioned this myself was she doing it because she wanted Miles or was she doing because the studio was making her….
Yes, You can stay away from my man. I don’t know what you think he sees in you. You’re a schoolteacher, right? Do you think your little skirts and sweaters sets are going to keep him engaged? He’s used to glamour and money and parties. It’s fine that he strayed for a weekend, but he’ll come back to me because you don’t have what it takes.”
“Her behavior shows me just how selfish she is. Her words are predictable coming from a scorned woman, but they sting none- the- less.”
They have their far share of battle with Colette McMauley, Miles Ex. But Rachel isn’t giving up the fight that easy, that paparazzi have caused some major issues for the work force for Rachel and Miles and there may be a fix to all of it if they both play their cards right and see it through to the end but insecurities may play a big part in the cards Meet Me In The Middle, Is a great fast fun and light hearted read you will laugh, and not want to put the book down.        “God, he’s gorgeous, Cass,” Mel gushed, pulling me out of my thoughts. I followed her swooning eyes and immediately found the source standing by the bar. She was right about one thing: he was definitely good looking.

His hair was dark; his jawline was sharp, complimenting his clean-shaven face. His body was hidden under a pair of dark jeans that hung on his hips and a button up shirt that was layered under a casual suit jacket. He looked professionally polished. He also had more than just mine and Mel’s eyes on him.

I bit down on my bottom lip. Something else stuck out about him. I glanced back at Mel. “He looks familiar, doesn’t he?”

She deepened her gaze on him, wrinkles forming around her eyes. “Eh, kind of. Why don’t you go talk to him?” She wiggled her brows.

“No. I’m not here to pick up guys. I already have an awesome one back at home.” My voice was playful, but my insides clenched at the thought of talking to a guy—especially that guy.

“Yes. That’s true.” She held up one finger as if she’d just discovered how they get all that caramel into the Caramilk bar. “But this guy can actually take you to dinner.” She laughed and I gave her an exaggerated eye roll. Suddenly, she sat straighter. “Looks to me like you’ve been noticed too. Someone’s hot-ass eyes are locked on your back. I think he knows you were ogling him.”

“He does?” My heart went from normal to pounding in zero point three seconds. “How?”

“For real?” She gave me the you’ve-got-to-be-kidding-meglare. “He’s been looking over here all night, but he caught you just as you turned around. I wasn’t able to hide my looky-loo eyes, sorry.” She shrugged as if to let me know she wasn’t sorry. “What if you do know him? School, maybe?”

“I don’t know. I guess it could’ve been college. He looks older, though.” The urge to see him up close was something I hadn’t experienced before. It was powerful. “Okay, I’ll go, but just because I need to know where I’ve seen him before.” I couldn’t even admit to myself that part of me wanted to talk to this attractive man just because.

“Alright.” He raised his brow as he walked over to the nightstand, writing something on the notepad. “Here’s my cell number, call me if you need anything. I only live about ten minutes away. Seriously, if you need anything, just use the motel phone.”I took the ripped piece of paper he handed me. “Thanks.” I knew I needed it so I could talk to him about my car, but that’s as far as it would go.“I mean it, anything,” he said as he walked to the door, resting his hand against the frame. “Can I get you something before I leave? Dinner?”

“No, I’m not hungry at all, but thanks for offering. I think I’m ready to get some sleep,” I admitted.

“I’ll keep you posted about your car,” he said.

“Thanks,” I said, thankful that I would get to see him again, but feeling like a mixed up basket case for not trusting him. I was a freaking mess.

“Goodnight Cassandra,” he said quietly before closing the door and walking away.

Yeah, right. Goodnight in this place was going to be hard to come by. I locked the door after he left and walked over to the bed. I drew the covers back and found exactly what I’d pictured… Stains. Gross. I pulled the covers back over the bed and decided to sleep with a towel over me instead. I walked into the filthy bathroom, quickly grabbed a towel, and ran back to the room like a scared child. I put on a pair of yoga pants and a t-shirt and was ready to get some rest. It had been an unusually long day between the long drive, the accident, and the hospital. Too exhausted for continued thinking, I let my brain off the hook and laid down on the hard mattress. As I pulled the towel over my body, I noticed my feet were going to be hanging out all night. Great.

I gently laid my sore head back onto the pillow and blinked my eyes a few times. I was right. Sweet dreams were extremely hard to come by in this place, but I tried. I closed my eyes and fell asleep.

Based on the way I felt the next morning, I’d gotten only a few hours of sleep at the most. Between the noises, the creaks, and the foul smell, I didn’t know which was worse. That was, by far, the worst night’s sleep I’ve ever had. The morning sun shone brightly through the yellowed curtains, and I decided to give up on trying to get any more sleep.

I ripped the towel off of me and was about to put my feet on the floor and there it was. Staring back at me as if I were invading his turf was an over sized, nasty, grey rat. “OH MY GOD!” I screamed as I jumped up and stood on the bed, unsure of what to do if he were to start climbing up. I let out another loud scream as it raised itself up with its beady little eyes staring, making it scurry off under the bed. This was even worse; now I couldn’t see the damn thing.

I jumped off the bed and collected my belongings faster than I even realized I could. I threw on a jacket before making a mad dash for the door, slamming it behind me. “Holy shit, that was gross,” I said breathlessly. I took a moment to compose myself, and to think about what to do next. I was not going back into that room. That was for certain.

“Are you looking for a place to stay yet?” I heard his familiar voice from afar. I peeked over the railing, and there he was standing with his arms crossed, wearing a sexy grin, faded jeans, and a tight white tee.

ExcerptWhen was the last time you came? Is someone there with you now -- touching you, teasing your stiff nipples, making you beg and moan? Are there hands on your body, sliding over your damp skin? A hard, thick cock driving deep inside you, relentless, until you think you’ll lose your mind? Or are you alone? The lights dimmed, your legs easing apart. Fingers, stroking lower. Your head falling back against the pillows. What do you imagine when you close your eyes? One lover, or many? A soft touch, or a punishing grip: fingers digging into your thighs, holding you down, fisting your hair in a tight knot as you part your lips in a silent cry of pleasure. Do you picture people watching, their eyes roaming across your naked flesh as you pant for air? Or are you the one hidden in the shadows, watching someone else as they come undone? You want it on your knees, his cock thrusting all the way into your wet, needy mouth. You want to be tied down, his mouth claiming you, his tongue licking deep against your tight, aching cunt. You want pleasure. You want pain. You imagine it all, every time. A flash of images, your body rising to your touch. You play the scenes out, every detail, as that craving twists higher and your breath turns shallow and your skin aches for a release that’s close, closer... Oh. You felt it, didn’t you? But it wasn’t the touch that took you there, not just a simple, animal response. It was your imagination. Those secret, sensual fantasies, more private than anything you could say out loud. More powerful than a hundred hard fucks. Most other men don’t realize. They think sex is about friction and girth. They think surrender is a pair of handcuffs and a silk scarf. They don’t understand, a woman’s most powerful erogenous zone is her mind. But I do. I know your darkest desires. I see what you crave when he’s holding you at night. I can show you a pleasure beyond reason, beyond your wildest fantasies. All you have to do is accept my invitation. Are you ready to play?

Excerpt

Bray and I spent the whole night in the field chasing the fireflies and laying on the grass, staring up at the stars. She told me all about her sister, Rian, and how she was a snob and was always mean to Bray. I told her about my parents, because I didn’t have any brothers or sisters. She said I was lucky. We talked forever, it seemed. We may have been young, but we connected deeply on that night. I knew we would be great friends, even better friends than Mitchell and I had been, and I had known him since first grade, when he had tried to con me out of my peach cup at lunch.
And before the night was over, we made a pact with each other that would later prove to see us through some very troubled times.
“Promise we’ll always be best friends,” Bray said, lying next to me. “No matter what. Even if you grow up ugly and I grow up mean.”
I laughed. “You’re already mean!”
She elbowed me.
“And you’re already ugly,” she said with a blush in her cheeks.
I gave in, though really I needed no convincing. “OK, I promise.”
We gazed back up at the stars; her fingers were interlaced and her hands rested on her belly.
I had no idea what I was getting into with Brayelle Bates. I didn’t know about such things when I was nine. I didn’t know. But I would never regret a moment with her. Never.
Bray and I were found early the following morning, fast asleep in the grass. We were awoken by three cops; Mr. Parson, who owned the land; and my frantic mother, who thought I had been kidnapped from my room, stuffed in a suitcase, and thrown on the side of a highway somewhere.
“Elias! Oh dear God, I thought you were gone!” She scooped me into her arms and squeezed me so tight I thought my eyeballs were going to burst out of the sockets. She pulled away, kissed me on the forehead, embarrassing the crap out of me, and then squeezed me again.
Bray’s mom and dad were there, too.
“Have you been out here all night with him?” Bray’s dad asked with a sharp edge in his voice.
My mom immediately went into defensive mode. She stood up the rest of the way with me and wrapped one arm around the front of me, pressing my head against her stomach.
“That daughter of yours,” my mom said, and already I was flinching before she finished, “she has a mouth on her. My son would never have snuck out unless he was influenced.”
Oh geez…
I sighed and threw my head back against her.
“Mom, I—”
“Are you blaming this on my daughter?” Bray’s mother said, stepping up front and center.
“As a matter of fact, I am,” my mom said boldly.
Bray started to shrink behind her dad and every second that passed I felt even worse about her being blamed.
Before this got too out of hand, I broke away from my mom’s arms. “Dammit, Mom—!” Her eyes grew wide and fierce, and I stopped midsentence.
“Watch your mouth, Elias!” Then she looked at Bray’s mom again and added,
“See, Elias never uses language like that.”
“Stop it! Please! I snuck out on my own, so leave Bray out of it!”
I hated shouting. I hated that I had to put my mom in her place like that, but I spoke what I felt in my heart, and that was something my mom always taught me to do. Take up for the bullied, Elias. Never stand back and watch someone take advantage of someone else, Elias. Always do and say what you know in your heart to be right, no matter what, Elias.
I hoped she would remember those things when we were back at home.
My mom sighed deeply and I watched the anger deflate with her breath. “I apologize,” she said to Bray’s parents. “Really, I am sorry. I was just so scared something had happened to him.”
Bray’s mom nodded, accepting my mom’s apology with sincerity. “I understand. I’m sorry, too. I’m just glad they’re safe.”
Bray’s dad said nothing. I got the feeling he wasn’t as forgiving as her mom had been.
I was grounded for the rest of the summer for that stunt I pulled. And yes, I met the fly swatter that day, after which I vowed never to sneak out of the house again. But whenever it came to Bray, from that time up until we graduated high school, I did sneak out. A lot. But I never got caught again after that first time.
I know you must be wondering why after so many years of being best friends, attending the same school, working together at the local Dairy Queen, even often sharing a bed, why we never became something more to each other.
Well, the truth is that we did.

Review:

I loved Song of the Fireflies; we see such a strong love and strong connection between these characters. The home lives they both live are so different from one another yet they are one when they are together.
Only if they could get it right in the relationship department but that wouldn't be much fun and we wouldn't get the amazing story I just read! I couldn't put this book down. My heart hurt when theirs did, I laughed right along with them. Sometimes I was like you have to be joking me could this girls luck get any worse.
But most of all we see the struggle that she not only faces every day but did her whole life and no one not even her parents supported her and that makes me so sad because believe it or not it happens more often than not! Mental illness gets over looked and or parents just don't want to have a child with a mental illness.
This Story hit Close to home for me, I have not only dealt with some of these things in my own life but have family members that I have watched my whole life go up and down and someone or many people turn a blind eye. Why I don't really know but It is upsetting to me and I feel as though this is something that need to be talked about and not look down on so much and I love that J.A. Redmerski did just that in Songs Of The Fireflies, I hope that someone that reads this book gets that little bit of hope that they need from reading it! It's beautifully written right down to the ugly and dirty truths.
Seeing all the problems and struggles these two went through I’m so glad that she had her best friend there for her from the moment they meet.
Songs of the Fireflies is most certainty 5 plus stars and I would
buy it for my family and friends in a heartbeat. It's a must read!

Excerpt

He kisses me passionately for three brief seconds, his hands gripping the sides of my face, and we’re both breathless when he says, “I wanted to tell you about Landon. I wanted to tell you a lot of things, but I knew you had to go home and none of it would’ve mattered.”
I touch his lips with two of my fingers. “You can tell me whenever you’re ready. I’m here to listen, and I’m not going anywhere. There’s nothing you can say to scare me away. I won’t leave again unless it’s what you want. I still have four days left of my vacation and I want to spend them with you.”
“I want you to stay.”
“Then I’m staying.”
“What about after that?”
“We’ll figure it out.”
He gazes into my eyes, searching for something, I could never know what, but I think he finds it because his lips smash against mine and he kisses me hungrily. I feel my body being lifted into the air, my legs wrapped around his waist, and the air in the room hitting me as he carries me quickly through it, never breaking the kiss. In seconds I feel the comfort of his bed beneath my back and his lumpy pillows I missed so much, around my head.
We strip off each other’s clothes clumsily and Luke is on top of me before I can even catch my breath. But I don’t need my breath when I have his, and his kiss is deep and forceful and it alone makes my body dizzy with need.
